(The never-ending) Studio Renovations

For what feels like a lifetime, I've been lucky enough to work out of studio room from my home. My parents, my biggest fans, saw potential in me from a young age and allowed me to take over the previously-used (or should I say rarely used) formal lounge room.
This room was my own personal sanctuary to let my creativity flow through drawing, fashion designing, beauty and make up - and much to many parents disgust - painting the walls!
I always felt like this fairly large space was never used to it's full potential. I never knew what to do with it. I knew I wanted to decorate it and redesign it to look like the many inspirational photos I had saved from Pinterest. However, for over a year - I just starred at it with utter confusion on where to start.
Finally, I managed to pick a colour palette - warm neutrals! Then I decided the theme I wanted to carry through my studio... and just like that there was no stopping me. From shopping for furniture and decorative pieces to rearranging and painting - the space is now called my Studio.
I know it's common for DIYers like myself get stuck in a decorative rut, so I thought I would share with you five of my own tips on how I made this room truly my own...
1. What did I truly want it for?
I had to keep asking myself, what is the purpose of this room. What do I want to achieve and what kind of feel did I want the room to have when people walked in. For me it was a little difficult as I wanted it to be my make up room, my fashion designing room, my art studio and my beauty room. So I needed to try and section it out to be practical - yet not over crowded
2. Research, Research, Research
I spent weeks and months online searching for inspiration. I had hundreds of images saved on my phone and on my Pinterest board that had even the smallest detail of what I liked and wanted in my room.
3. Create a consistent look
From one space to another, I wanted to ensure that my space was consistent. Although the one room is used for many things, it still needed to look like all the spaces connect.
4. Include a signature piece
For me, this is my beautiful large wall-hung mirrors. When you walk into my room, the mirrors are right there - giving you a sense of glamour!
5. Make it personal
Your room should be you - just like my room is me. I wanted to keep a reflection of me and my style. I have art on the walls which I drew and the accessories around the room represent what I loved most (fashion!).
Boy has it been a work in progress! Now that I finished up I thought I'd share some photos of how it all came together and hopefully inspire you if you're stuck in a decorative rut.
